Een dendrogram is een diagram met een boomstructuur. De gegevens worden opgesplitst in 2 takken en vervolgens verder onderverdeeld. De gegevens die zich in dezelfde tak bevinden zijn gelijkaardig, tussen deze gegevens kan men dus verbanden vast stellen. Aangezien het dendrogram sterk vertakt is, kunnen we afleiden dat de gegevens zeer veel gelijkenissen vertonen.

In de linkercluster bevinden zich voornamelijk de lage volgnummers, de overige bevinden zich in de rechtercluster.

Is het niet zo, dat hoe meer het dendogram vertakt is, de variabelen verschillende eigenschappen vertonen? Alles wat zich onder 1 tak bevindt (= 1 cluster)vertoont namelijk dezelfde eigenschappen. Elke cluster wordt telkens opnieuw onderverdeel tot dat we op 1 periode terechtkomen.
