Hoe kom je aan de gegevens waarmee de boxplots bekomen zijn? Dit is voor mij precies nogal onduidelijk.

Deze opdracht is helemaal verkeerd uitgevoerd. Je had in excel de data per geslacht en per construct moeten filteren. Zie de spreadsheet in week 4. Deze data had je dan moeten invoeren in de software, en dan kwam je onderstaande computations uit:

Door de verkeerde uitgevoerde berekening is de conclusie van de student ook fout. Hier volgt mijn conclusie:

In de eerste plaats merken we verschillen op bij I1, I2 en Amotivation. Aangezien hier de inkepingen (notches) van de boxplots elkaar niet overlappen. Wat wijst op een verschil in motivatie tussen de 2 groepen. Vervolgens kijken we naar de boxplots waar er wel overlappingen zijn, namelijk I3, E1, E2 en E3. Dit wijst erop dat hier de motivatie tussen de mannen en vrouwen gelijk is, toch is dit geen volledig betrouwbare indicatie, aangezien de 2 groepen niet gelijk of niet representatief zijn vertegenwoordigd. Dit merken we duidelijk aan de grootte van de inkeping (kijk naar de verschillende boven- en ondergrenzen). Deze inkeping wordt kleiner en betrouwbaarder naarmate de 2 groepen representatief zijn tegenover elkaar. Wat we hier wel duidelijk merken is dat de vrouwen meer gemotiveerd waren dan de mannen.

Als we kijken naar de outliers zien we dat er bij sommige boxplots meer te zien zijn. Dit wordt veroorzaakt doordat de steekproef niet representatief is. De ene groep is kleiner dan de andere en bij de kleine groep neemt de software meer waarden aan als outlier, ookal zijn dit in werkelijkheid geen extreme waarden, maar dus een gevolg van het verschil in steekproefgrootte.
