Om te bepalen of we de nulhypothese al dan niet mogen aanvaarden, moeten we niet kijken of het gemiddelde gelegen is in het betrouwbaarheidsinterval, maar moeten we ons enkel concentreren op deze nulhypothese zelf.

20 is hier niet gelegen in het betrouwbaarheidsinterval en dus gaan we de nulhypothese verwerpen. De Intrinsic Motivation – To Know bij vrouwen is dus wel significant verschillend van 20.
