We kijken naar de 5de definitie 'Empirical Distribution Function - Interpolation'
1 Hier lezen we af dat het minder dan een minuut is.
2 het is waarschijnlijk dat 10 % van de studenten de enquète oplossen in minder dan 2 minuten.

Vraag 1 kon beantwoord worden door te kijken in de kolom “Empirical Distribution Function – Interpolation” waar je de waarde 61.9 vindt in de rij die gelijk is aan p=0.05 (of p=5%). Dit wil zeggen dat 5% van de studenten de enquête in 61.9 seconden of minder hebben beantwoord. Vraag 2 kon op dezelfde manier beantwoord worden.

Op deze vraag vind ik geen duidelijk antwoord. Dus hiervoor kijken we in de kolom van de 'Empirical Distribution Function - Interpolation'. Hierbij zien we dat bij de kolom van 5%, we een tijd van 61,9 seconden kunnen aflezen. Dit is het antwoord op de eerste vraag.

Voor het antwoord op de tweede vraag kijken we in dezelfde kolom met wat 120 seconden overeenkomt. In dit geval is het 103,89 seconden dat we moeten nemen want het volgende is groter dan 120 seconden. Deze 103.89 seconden komen overeen met 10%. Dit is dan weer het antwoord op de tweede vraag.

De gegeven oplossing bij Taak 6 is niet correct. We weten uit het verleden dat 5% van de studenten enquêtes niet op de gewenste manier invullen, en willen dan ook weten hoeveel tijd er minstens nodig is om deze op een gepaste manier te maken. In kolom 1 'p' zakken we tot waarde 0.05 (de 5% uit de opgave)en dan moeten we ons baseren op de overeenstemmende waarde in de kolom 'Empirical Distribution Function-Interpolation'. We lezen hier 61,9 af, wat erop wijst dat er minstens 61,9 seconden nodig zijn om de enquête grondig in te vullen. We willen ook weten hoeveel procent van de studenten minder dan 2 minuten nodig zal hebben. Hiervoor gaan we omgekeerd te werk en zoeken we eerst naar de kortstbijzijnde waarde rond de 120 seconden. Als we op deze rij dan terug verschuiven naar de waarde in de kolom 'p', dan zien we dat de 120 seconden zich bevindt tussen de percentielen 10 en 11. We kunnen dus met een hoge waarschijnlijkheid zeggen dat 10% van de studenten minder dan 2 minuten nodig zal hebben.
