Het is een moeilijke keuze om te kiezen tussen de drie benaderingen. Enerzijds heeft de student gelijk door de midrange te nemen. Bij deze benadering is de spreiding het kleinst, waardoor de betrouwbaarheid het grootst is. Anderzijds zijn er bij de midrange veel outliers waarmee rekening mee moet worden gehouden. Daardoor kan je eventueel opteren voor één van de twee andere benaderingen waar de spreiding iets groter is, maar waar minder outliers aanwezig zijn.
